Huuuuuuuuuaaaaaaannnnnnnn! Clang, clang, clang. That is the standard response my grandmother would give whenever she was shocked by something. And I find myself doing it. Not only that, my daughter does it, too.
Picture the nasal inhalation of a gorgeous, aging beauty queen with bangles that clanged as she astounded at this, that, or the other. My sister and I used to laugh, huuuanning and clanging our way through puberty. At one point, however, it no longer was a voluntary reaction, but an involuntary one. I find comfort in the fact she does it, and HER daughter does it, too.
My daughter mimics me, but one day, yes one day! She will be wondering if she has become like her mother.
Is it genetic? Are we destined to become like our foremothers? I think so. My bracelets are click-clacking together as I type this. Huuuuuuuuuuaaaaaannnn!
